In this, the 39th month* of the endless pandemic, I have grown nostalgic for the banalities of office life. The coronavirus started working in NYC around the same time I started this job, which means I’ve never actually worked in the office. In this sense, I realize I’m very lucky in many ways—working from home (or working at all) is a luxury many don’t have right now. Still: I’ve never met my co-workers face-to-face. I’ve never had to suss out who keeps the best candy at their desk, or who to avoid in the staff kitchen at lunchtime, or the best time to use the bathroom. At this point, even watching the dysfunctional goings-on at the workplace of Retsuko the Red Panda feels warm and nostalgic.

Yes, Aggretsuko, that Sanrio show with an edge, returns to Netflix on Aug. 27 for a third season of workplace strife, romantic upheaval and general adult life malaise. Somehow, a series about an anthropomorphic red panda working a soul-destroying job at an office in Tokyo and dealing with job stress, co-worker drama and endless aggravation (when she isn’t rocking out to death metal at a karaoke bar) feels like a balm right now—a promise that one day, we’ll all get back to normal, by which I mean, dreading going into the office rather than longing for a return to normalcy.

Here’s everything coming to and leaving Netflix this week.
